Love all of these soundtracks!

Love the info! I didn’t know about him asking the Psychedelic Furs to redo the song!

I did know Chrissy Hind was married to Jim Kerr, but didn’t know she was asked to do the song for the Breakfast Club first!

Check out the album, Interchords by The Psychedelic Furs. It is an interview album with Oedipus of Boston's, WBCN. So many cool facts about the group.

When she found out she had to do a music video, she deffered. Billy Idol and Bryan Ferry also declined. Crazy to think.

There was something about those '80s soundtracks, wasn't there? Top Gun and Footlose both come to mind. (also Flashdance, Dirty Dancing... ) None of it is high art, but it's first-rate lightweight pop!

Totally agreed. Other soundtracks that meet that criteria that come to mind are, The Karate Kid, The Goonies, to name a few.

Bill and Ted. Fame. And that's just a few of the mainstream ones. Doesn't even count indie soundtracks like Do The Right Thing, or fab retro soundtracks like Big Chill and Absolute Beginners.

It really was the golden age for movie soundtracks, it seems.

Even the movie scores of the 80s were top notch. Music was just so good then.

I don't know that I'd go so far as to call 80s music good (I'm a child of the 80s so I get to say that... 😎), but it certainly had its moments and a disproportionate number of those moments did seem to appear on soundtracks.

Also Purple Rain, but that doesn't feel like a soundtrack any more than Hard Day's Night is really a soundtrack.
