Just spinning some of the greatest soundtrack songs of the 80s.
As a kid, I adored these movies; The Breakfast Club, Home Alone, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, just to name a few. So many good memories for sure.
Now for some random facts you may not know.
1. Did you know that John Hughes personally selected each song for each of his movies. He also was an avid music fan and this influenced his movies in many ways.
2. For the movie, Pretty in Pink, Hughes called Psychedelic Furs front man, Richard Butler, and asked him to re-record their song and make it more upbeat.
3. He originally asked Chrissy Hynde of, The Pretenders, to sing the Breakfast Club theme song but she was pregnant and deffered to her husband. Her husband was the lead singer of, Simple Minds.

There was something about those '80s soundtracks, wasn't there? Top Gun and Footlose both come to mind. (also Flashdance, Dirty Dancing... ) None of it is high art, but it's first-rate lightweight pop!
Love all of these soundtracks!
Love the info! I didn’t know about him asking the Psychedelic Furs to redo the song!
I did know Chrissy Hind was married to Jim Kerr, but didn’t know she was asked to do the song for the Breakfast Club first!
