As well as still diving into ‘Who’s Next | Life House’, I’ve been listening to Peter Gabriel’s ‘Us’ (the album I wrote about this week) and am finding the time to give Steven Wilson’s ‘The Harmony Codex’ the attention it deserves.
Earlier this year I read Richard Thompson's autobiography "Beeswing", which provides an interesting glimpse into the English folk rock scene of the 60s.
I thought it was well written but it didn't give me a lot of insight into what makes him tick. I enjoyed reading about all the ways he was intersecting with the key people in the scene, especially Nick Drake since I picture Nick being by himself creating music in obscurity.
Gogol Bordello is an artist I've been checking out. Definitely a different take on punk music from what I'm used to.
Shape of punk to come by Refused is so good. I'm trying to figure out how I miss this one, it was probably due to the... I need to be a parent... time if my life.
I have also been exploring Dumpstafunk for a little variety.
I’ve been rediscovering some early 90s soul and synth pop sounds lately
I just picked up, Erasure - The Innocents, and it is so good. A great example of synth-wave.
Check out the group, Tenek, a lesser known synrh group from England.
Thank you, Joe! I’ll check them out

I'm going to add Steven Wilson to my list of things to listen to.
My friend mentioned Leo Kottke to me as I said I was exploring John Renbourn.
So much music, so little time.
"So much music, so little time."
Absolutely - my 'to listen' list is way longer than the time I have available to keep up. Better that way than not enough to hear though!
Very true!! I have over 1000 vinyl and have listened to about 95% of them at least once.
The problem is, if someone makes a great recommendation, is then finding the vinyl for them.

Very interesting. I am going to give this a read. How did you enjoy the book?
