What's a movie you could watch over and over again but never get tired of it? Here's my choice.
This movie was a staple of my childhood. Having famlly who lived in Oregon and having visited Astoria, this made it all the more special.
I remember walking the beach and seeing the Walsh's home where the movie was filmed. Just to see these things close up and put myself in their shoes even temporarily was out of this world.
The movie aside, the music video for, The Goonies R Good Enough, on MTV (gasp.. I know actual music on that channel) was amazing. As someone who watched the WWF and seeing those wrestlers was a kid's dream come true. Plus that tune was very catchy.
Another interesting fact was Spielberg asked Lauper to be the musical director for the film. In doing so, she selected an unknown group at the time, The Bangles, to sing the song, I Got Nothing. The band would become a household name after their second album which was released shortly after the film.
Sadly the one song that doesn't make the soundtrack is the iconic, Fratelli Chase, which was an instrumental score that was simply amazing. I don't know how they could have left that off, but alas, the soundtrack is still amazing in my mind.

Maybe "Fratelli Chase" could be a bonus track on a CD reissue...
