Today, I am pulling out the latest psychedelic rock addition to the collection.
You've seen me mention, The Electric Prunes, before. Today I finally obtained a copy of their second album, Underground. This one was especially difficult to find but after hearing the rave reviews from people in the vinyl community, I knew I wouldn't get another chance to pick it up.
This album contains the fuzzed out sound of their first album but in my mind it's even more psychedelic/garage than the first. Lacking a distinctive song to make a single from the album, it lacked traction at the time.
The popularity came long after the initial release; Iggy Pop, The Ramones, and others, found the artistry otherworldly and sampled this album extensively.
After an initial spin, this album blew my mind with its creativity, artistry, and just overall it was nothing short of incredible.
A huge thank you to the community for speaking so highly of this album. I'm so happy to have finally got a copy of this masterpiece!

I have their 2CD career overview anthology from Rhino. You have to love a band who could sing songs like "Train For Tomorrow", "Tunerville Trolley", "Dr. Do Good" and "Captain Glory" with a relatively straight face!
