Some good bluegrass? Why not...
Today is another group I found courtesy of the similar artist feature on Spotify. Yep, I use it often and it helps me find new music.
After listening to them, I knew I had to find their music on vinyl. Their version of Wagon Wheel is absolute perfection.
This being a live album makes it even better due to guest performers. They did, Let the Circle Be Unbroken with Molly Tuttle and Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man with Margo Price. Two artists you definitely need to listen to.
The Ryman was actually the home of the Grand Old Opry from 1943 to 1974 until they expanded the Opry to a larger venue. For almost 20 years after, the Ryman was pretty much abandoned until the mid 90s when it experienced a revival and musicians started playing there again.
Going back to the theme of finding new music then purchasing the vinyl, this album is how I found Molly Tuttle.
To me bluegrass is a very under appreciated genre that tends to get overlooked in my neck of the woods in Massachusetts. We tend to have radio stations that focus on pop country (there's nothing wrong with that music) but they don't generally expand into the other forms of country music unless you have satellite radio. So playing this album really helps get me my bluegrass fix.
