For today's edition of #FarOutFridayVinyl that I host on my Instagram account (@VinylGroovesAndBrew)
I am sure you're wondering, who are Eden's Children?
As you already know they were part of the Bosstown Sound, the East Coast version of psychedelic rock. But one thing I am sure you didn't know was their lead guitarist Richard 'Sham' Schamach influenced many future guitarists. He wrote the blueprint for fuzz, fading, and distortion, all three essentials to psychedelic rock.
Sadly they suffered the same fate as many other Bosstown Sound groups; a great first album that melted your mind but their second album fell short as they completely changed their music style. What do these groups have in common? Their record label. Makes you wonder if the label wanted a shift as some saw the genre dying a very fast death.
As someone who truly loves this genre, I can see why I was being phased out. But that doesn't mean the sound should have been. Eden's Children were just a victim of how quickly people change what they like. Coming into shape in 1965, hitting its peak during the summer of love, and finally being buried at Woodstock in 1969.
Say what you will, but I say you should give this album a listen. You'll have to either shell out at least $100 for a good copy or find a someplace to stream it (sorry Spotify doesn't have it).
