Mondays require some relaxing music. What better way to do it with some 1960s British folk rock.
Fairport Convention is one of my favorite groups of all time. By listening to them, it opened up so many doors in my music tastes.
The amazing vocal range of Sandy Denny is showcased on this album in full force. If you want to get blown away, listen to her on the song Fotheringay, and if you want chills listen to, The Lord is in this Place. She crushes it and few compare in my mind.
The bass guitarist, Ashley Hutchins, is a wonderful addition to a stacked lineup. His bass really brings out the folk elements of this album.
Interesting enough, this American pressing maybe be self titled, but it is actually the band's second studio album. In the UK this album goes by, What We Did on Our Holidays.
If you enjoy Fairport Convention, be sure to check out, Pentangle, The Albion Band, and Steeleye Span, to name a few British folk rock bands of the 60s and 70s.
