1990...
The end of an era for one of America's greatest bands. How did they end their run? With some of the greatest shows they had ever put on.
Without A Net, was based on the band's tendency to play without set lists and just play. The album was put together in an attempt to replicate a live show.
The main reason for this album was a direct response to fans saying they put profits over quality. The band had something to prove and this album silenced many critics.
In my mind it is on par with Reckoning, another compilation of live shows on an album. Plus it has my favorite trip of, Help us on the Way/Slipknot/Franklin's Tower, and it's magic.
If you're looking for an introduction to the Dead, this is a perfect album to listen to. It isn't over psychedelic or Americana but a great blend of their sound that they perfected over 35 years of music.

Absolutely love this album. Thanks for the reminder to spin it this weekend!
Definitely the end of an era- as Jerry Garcia would die the following year...
