Mr. Blue, we've got our eye on you...
Spinning one of my favorite albums of the 60s. It's one of those albums that are lesser known, psychedelic rock, and they were an one album group.
Clear Light was named after a potent form of LSD, though the band said it was based on Eastern philosophy.
They did a tour with, The Doors, but this makes perfect sense as their manager also managed both groups.
My favorite song of theirs is a six minute rendition of, Mr. Blue, which was written by Tom Paxton. This song in my mind is about to counter culture movement that was gaining steam in the country, mainly California.
Other songs worth noting are, Black Roses and They Who Have Nothing. They were not as note worthy as the main song, but definitely worth a listen.
Another random fact is their lead singer, Cliff De Young, starred in my favorite movie as a kid, Flight of the Navigator. De Young actually replaced Barry Maguire and the front man of the group. Maguire and the original lineup was in the movie, The President's Analyst but he left soon after to pursue other musical opportunities.
