Got Blues?
Rory rocks the house...
Stevie Ray Vaughn might be the greatest guitarist you have heard of but let me introduce you to the greatest you have never heard of....
Ireland’s, Rory Gallagher, is amazing as a blues guitarist. His skills were legendary but like most great musicians, his life was cut short.
Gone at 47 but his legend ever grows larger as more music becomes available through streaming services and the like.
Live at Montreaux, was recording during his 1975, 77, 79, and 85 shows. His shredding is unlike anything that I’ve heard and I’ve heard a lot.
Gallagher was so talented that he inspired Brian May of Queen to find his signature sound on the guitar. He also influenced Slash of Guns N’Roses, Edge of U2, Johnny Marr of The Smiths, and Glen Tipton of Judas Priest, among countless others.
Legend, Ritche Blackmore, said of Gallagher, ‘he was the greatest natural guitarist that he’s ever seen.’
High praise for an Irish kid who got his start in a show band in the early 60s. The gig allowed him to purchase his signature guitar, a 1961 Fender Stratocaster.
Give him a listen! You won’t be disappointed.
