A perfect Monday spin...
The band that helped melt Tipper Gore's brain but also the band that was just pure rock and roll.
1980 was a tough year for the band as they lost Bon Scott and the band was reeling. They needed a front man and they looked far and wide but ended up finding the guy who would usher the band to new heights in the wake of Scott's death. That man was Brian Johnson from the band, Geordie.
Composed by Johnson with Angus and Malcom Young and produced by the legendary Mutt Lange. It took the band seven weeks in Bermuda to get this album just right.
The work paid off as this album went on to sell 50 millon copies worldwide and propelled them into the straosphere as the album went 27x platinum by 2024. This made it the third highest selling album in American music history.
The album wasn't without controversy as the air was never cleared on who wrote the hit song Back in Black. What is known is that the band dedicated this album to Scott but what isn't known is why the band left him off the album credits. The black album cover was to represent the band being in mourning for their fallen front man.
No matter what though, this album was a masterpiece from start to finish. A wonderful tribute to a friend.
